Language Games

Again,we’re doing language games where every group has to come out with a game of their choice. Our group decided to do ‘Chinese whispers’ game. It’s been a fun game as our friends enjoyed playing them very much. The funny part is that some of our friends were very naughty and whispered totally different sentence that is of course totally different from the sentence that’s been given to them. But it was very hilarious!

Week 3 & 4: Introduction to Phonology

Starting from this week, we were starting to learn something more complicated (I think). We were learning about speech organs, on how different English sounds were produced. I had fun learning this lesson with my friends as we rarely learn about things like this. I had learned that English sounds is totally different from other languages, as the sounds produced depends on the speech organs used. I think that probably most Malaysians have problems in speaking English because of this. I am not saying that I am perfect, in fact, I am one of those people. Hehe. But it is not too late to learn right?

Week 2: Language & Communication

This week’s lessons were as fun and enjoyable as the previous week’s lessons. The most interesting of all was the miming conversation of the situation of our choice. I found that this activity was the most interesting of all, as it is fun and very entertaining. As usual, we were the natural actor and actresses. Our group was the first to do the role play. I felt like I want to burst out laughing everytime I had eye contacts with my friends. My other friends were also teasing us, and I cannot resist on smiling, when I supposed to be sick-faced when I pulled out an imaginary cockroach out of my mouth. Eww.. I think that Effendy’s group was the humorous of all. We kept on laughing especially the part that Effendy and Douglas caught the ‘deer’. Surprisingly Mdm. Ira laughed the way I never heard her laugh before and I thought that their acts must entertained her a lot. Hehe..

Week 1: Language & Communication

Our first week of learning language and communication was full of interesting activities. I do enjoy most of our lessons because I felt that this semester is going to be fun and less stress of learning English Language, if to compare with the previous lesson the year before. Plus, I think that this semester’s lesson is light-headed and actually we are doing mostly speaking only.

When we were doing the presentation of ‘How Culture Affects English Language’, Mdm. Ira mentioned something important that all of us should know or did by now. Our presentation was lack of materials that supported our points. I think she was right because we were in the university level right now, and by now our presentation must be mature and in more academic way. Phew, what a way to go!

Besides that, we also did role play with at least 5 language functions, which I found very entertaining. Each group had their own way of presenting the role play and it was quite fun to see our own friends acting, and they were actually very good actors and actresses!
